Role Summary
The NDT/UT Sr. Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) is a high-level strategic position based at Swagelok’s Solon headquarters. You will be the primary owner of supplier quality for assigned commodities, focusing on auditing, qualification, and defect resolution. - Drive the Corrective Action process for audit findings to ensure resolution within expected timeframes.
- Lead technical input for strategic sourcing projects, including assessing supplier NDT capabilities.
- Coordinate gauge and process capability studies, first article inspections, and validation plans.
- Manage department-level projects intended to improve global quality systems and operational processes.
- Train and develop suppliers in the application of sound engineering, quality, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Act as the primary internal resource for the performance and inspection methods of supplied products.
- Oversee supplier NDT programs, ensuring compliance with UT standards and Level III requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be the ideal candidate, you should meet these standards:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or a quality-related field is strictly required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing process design, quality planning, or engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), with a Level III certification strongly preferred.
- Advanced training in statistical analysis, SPC, DOE, and working knowledge of Minitab or Statistica.
- Strong familiarity with ISO/QS9000 auditing standards and Total Quality/Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) status is highly desirable.
- Expert-level knowledge of metrology and general mechanical inspection methods and procedures.
- Ability to manage medium to large projects independently and mentor other Supplier Development Engineers.
- Excellent communication skills for leading technical discussions and influencing supplier behavior.
